About the Event
Indie Focus is a new event series by Lost The Plot, where we organize multi-city screening tours of handpicked independent films to help them gain a footprint amidst the crowded media landscape of today. We also hope to give audiences an opportunity to discover the best from our country’s diverse and burgeoning film space and interact with talented new filmmaking voices.
We are proud to be launching this series in partnership with MAP Bangalore, with the critically acclaimed documentary film, Borderlands. Directed by National Award winning filmmaker Samarth Mahajan, Borderlands is an intimate exploration of how everyday lives intertwine with both personal and political boundaries across the Indian subcontinent. It tells the stories of 6 people who live along the national borders of our country - from the edges of Pakistan and Bangladesh to Nepal and Myanmar - from a deeply personal perspective; a gentle and moving reminder that these regions are more than the politicized rhetoric surrounding them.
Supported by a large crowdfunding campaign, the film has already screened at over 25 reputed festivals across the globe, including the homegrown Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI), winning multiple awards on its journey, most recently including this year's National Award for Best Editing in the Non-Feature Segment.

The film screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Director Samarth Mahajan (virtual) as well as the Associate Director, Nupur Agrawal (in person), which will be hosted by Mahima Venugopalan, cinephile, film blogger and curator of the Community Cinema Club which runs at The Courtyard.
